I have to reveal up front that I own an older 3-series BMW, so I am quite aware of its abilities and drawbacks. And as many different types of cars that I drive, I am always happy to return to my baby. But when I got behind the wheel of the new 330i (Edmunds pricing at $39,184) I could tell that this machine was a sharp step up in performance within a quarter mile.

At my first ride in the driver’s seat, I couldn’t get over the ergonomics of the steering wheel. Every car has one, and I’ve handled a few unusual ones, but my grip has never felt more at home than with this 330i. (Unfortunately, it wasn’t a heated steering while like the 7-series, and it was quite cold outside.) Then BMW mates this steering wheel with very precise steering for a sedan-level car.

The German automobiles avoid the low-end torque that American makers’ design, instead they offer a slower launch, but smoother, linear acceleration. And the silky 6-cylinder engine is particularly noticeable with a manual transmission in this car. BMW finally added a 6th gear for the stick shift, and I say it is overdue. My old one has 50,000 miles and the gearing still makes me look for 6th when I run up through the gears – but sadly there are only 5 to be had. Since the 330i generates 255 horsepower, far more than I am used to for daily driving, I may have to upgrade my radar detector.

Yes, the car basics are spectacular – engine, ride, steering (even the steering wheel), but the electronics controls are a comical disappointment. Anyone that has driven this car has a story about turning on the turn signals from one side to the other and back again, during a vain attempt to turn them off. I know people in the area gave me a wider berth, thinking I was a confused and lost driver. The turning signal lever doesn’t ‘click’ into place as the rest of the world has come to commonly expect turn signals to function. With the 330i, you tap the signal, such as for passing, and it automatically flashes three times and then turns off. But you can hold the lever a little longer, and you get your normal-action from the turn signal. But on a soft turn, where the signal doesn’t turn off, you have to flick it the other way to turn it off. But in the hurry of the moment, if it is more than a flick, then you just indicated from your signals that you are turning in the opposite direction. And this goes back

Tinnitus is referred to as the sensing of sound inside the ear when there is no traceable sound which may be coming from outside of the ear. It occurs as a result of a lot of factors like wax in your ear, external stuffs that got into the ear, fluid drain, and nose allergies. There are methods which you can use to stop tinnitus. We have both natural and synthetic methods used to stop tinnitus, some of them are below.

The lack of zinc and vitamin B12 may result to tinnitus. If you take a considerable amount of foods rich in zinc and vitamin B12, it may help to alleviate the indications of tinnitus. Even though you are already consuming adequate Vitamin B12 in the foods you take, you may not hold sufficient stomach acids to take it in through the appropriate way. The grubs rich in Vitamin B12 are milk, fish, meat and cereal. The grubs rich in zinc are cucumbers, spinach, Brussels sprouts and the rest of others.

Herbs

We have some herbs which originate from China used to stop tinnitus. A blend of rhubarb and coptis can aid to stop tinnitus, assuming your tinnitus is caused as a result of high blood pressure or simply hypertension. Matured set of individuals who experience tinnitus can benefit more from the use of rehmannia eight as their option to stop this infection.

If you consume the said drugs, then it will be in your best interest to speak to your medical doctor concerning the occurrence of the ringing in the ear as you are taking the drugs.

In the news: The Chevrolet Camaro concept was one of the vehicles that received high praises during the 2006 American Auto show. And for this year, it is expected that the Camaro will once again reign. This time however, it’s going to be the Camaro convertible.

The Chevrolet Camaro convertible concept is to debut on the eve of the North American International Auto Show at GM Style which is an exclusive fashion-splashed event that combines celebrities, couture and automobiles. Chevrolet is optimistic with its new Camaro convertible and announced that they already made production plans for it. They further stated that if things will go smoothly with the production then the US auto market can expect it by 2009.

The Camaro convertible concept was derived from the original Camaro concept with little changes to make way for the convertible body style. In terms of exterior dimensions, the Camaro convertible and the original Camaro concept basically are the same L/W/H: 4,730/2,022/1,344 mm. Their only difference is the windshield since the convertible concept’s features a bright anodized finish and altered slightly to make room for the convertible top. The Camaro convertible concept is going to be equipped with a potent V-8 engine that powers the rear wheel via manual transmission. It will also feature a four-wheel independent suspension system and a four wheel disc brakes.

The convertible will also feature sophisticated Chevrolet Camaro accessories with some additional design details that include: tonneau cover, “Halo” headlamps, LED tailamps, rear spoiler with LED-lit CHMSL, racing-inspired fuel filler door, front-inlet hood scoop (inspired by the Corvette Z06), and a heritage-inspired rear fender grills. The Hugger Orange pearl tri-coat color of the Camaro convertible was more of a contemporary update of the classic hue offered in 1969.

The twin gunmetal gray sport stripes together with its classic color accentuate the Camaro’s heritage and help it in portraying a contemporary look. The Camaro convertible is equipped with 21 inch front wheels and 22 inch rear wheels that have a deep-dish, five spoke design with charcoal center sections with bright outer edges and an orange outline on the wheel edge.

According to Ed Welburn, GM Vice president, Global Design, “The best follow-up to last year’s award-winning Camaro concept is a Camaro convertible. The Camaro convertible concept instantly evokes an emotional response – it’s a vehicle that you want to make room for in your garage.”

What is a Government Auto Auction and How Can You Benefit from One?

Have you ever known a guy who suddenly becomes the owner of a fancy sports car even though you know that he couldn’t possibly afford such an expensive car? Well obviously, something fishy is going on here. How could he possibly have a better car than you and how can you get your hands on such an awesome ride?

In truth, that guy probably didn’t win the lottery nor did he sell his soul to the devil for a new car. Ask him where he got his car and he’ll probably say that he got it at a government auto auction.

There are lots of tales going around about government auto auctions. You might have heard about people getting outrageous deals for Ferraris, or some other similar story, but how much of this is true?

What is a government auto auction? How do the cars and various other vehicles end up there? Most importantly, how can you take advantage of a government auto auction and get a good deal on a car?

It is common practice for the government’s many different agencies, such as the FBI or IRS, to seize the various belongings of criminals and tax evaders. This can include wide array of stuff like real estate, furniture, antiques, artwork, and of course cars and various other vehicles.

This government seized property is then put up for auction, allowing the more law abiding people to purchase these items, often for far less than their general market value.

Government auto auctions have been around for some time now and is experiencing an ever increasing rise in popularity. People have caught on to the many advantages that can be gotten from getting a car through an auction.

They have realized that although it may not be as glamorous as buying a brand new car straight from the dealership, it can be a more practical and economical approach, especially considering the skyrocketing prices of cars these days.

Vehicles can end up in a government auction from a variety of ways. They can be the vehicles that once belonged to criminals or were used an some sort of illegal act. This means that you can be the new owner of a genuine getaway truck!

They can also be the repossessed cars of the poor souls who couldn’t pay their numerous government loans or taxes and ended getting raided by the IRS. Because all these cars come from such a variety of different sources, the pre-owned cars put up for auction tend to be very diverse.

Cars can be of all sorts of make and models, and since crime lords tend to drive some pretty slick rides, you can sometimes find some really exotic luxury car models like Cadillac, Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Jaguar, and Porsche among others. Occasionally, there might even be a rare vintage car or custom jobs that can’t be found anywhere else.

One thing about pre-owned cars in government auctions is that they’re sold as-is. This means that the vehicles can, and often do, have some flaws in them. Some caution and a fair bit of inspection should go into buying from an auction.

The other type of cars found in auctions are retired government fleet vehicles. Since the government likes to regularly renew their fleet vehicles, they put the old ones up for auction. These can be made up of old service vehicles or retired police cars but nothing mad for military use, so those looking to bid for a tank will be disappointed.

The government also auctions off any surplus vehicles that are no longer needed in order to save on maintenance cost. While none of these vehicles are as exotic as repossessed ones, they are very well maintained and are generally safer buys.

Government auto auctions are conducted regularly and in most areas. Check your local newspaper or the internet for information and lists of upcoming auctions.

While it is possible to get a really great deal at an auction, it’s unrealistic to expect to buy a Lamborghini for $100. Most vehicles have minimum price, and anything for less than $500 has some problem or is just a piece of junk. There are also the used car salesmen, who often frequent these events, to compete with.

All in all, a government auto auction can be a tricky affair. Be sure to do your homework regarding the vehicles and auctions in general before you jump into one. Doing so will greatly increase your chances of getting a really good bargain.

The colourful spectrum of classic cars which stretch across many decades include some weird and wonderful creations, but the weirdest of all has to be the 1932 Talbot 14/65 Boat Tail Tourer. With a body made purely of wood, this timeless beauty will be a truly unique buy for the lucky owner who snaps it up at auction next month.

“Brooklands’ historians estimate the car is worth a very affordable £20,000 to £30,000″, according to traditional boat-builders Henwwod and Dean. The Serious Wheels website has reported that even with no oars, no rudder, no propeller and questionable cruising credentials, this latest consignment to Brooklands auction on December 4th is still sure to float the boat for many classic car enthusiasts.

Starting its life as a simple saloon car, this vintage Talbot was given a new lease of life by a boat builder, who constructed and carefully crafted this Tourer from planks of the finest Honduran mahogany.

Not many classic cars can claim to have a nautical twist, but fortunately for this little trinket its unique selling point makes it stand out from the rest. In keeping with true British sports car tradition, comfort is kept to a bare minimum”, according to AutoEvolution.com, with “two small rectangular aero screens, a tonneau cover and a pair of 9 inch diameter headlamps”.

As well as the charming outer aesthetics, this classic has a black leather interior with art deco detailing to reflect the era the car was built. With such distinctive intricate detail the 1932 Talbot would make a great contribution to any classic car enthusiast’s collection.

There are two passageways or channels within the gun. One is for airflow the other for material flow. The fluid needle takes the required paint from the reservoir. As you use the trigger to control the tapered needle, it will pull it from the tip allowing more material through. Simultaneously the trigger regulates the air to allow siphoning of the material from the cup, and atomizes the paint. It is through the fast moving area that a low-pressure area materializes and uses the ambient air pressure as its catalyst to push the material from the cup. Now you can see what it is so important to keep the vent tubes clear and clean.

Some interesting and very important questions are such as these…

Qns 1: There are holes on both side of the air cap – what are they for?

These are like an air anvil and are called air horns. This is what allows you paint to flatten out so it makes a pattern. When the air meets the material it is in the impingement zone. As the air comes out of the horn the air hits directly in front of the air cap.

Qns 2: It is now becoming a regulation in many places to clean you gun in an enclosed gun washer. What’s the best way to use these?

If you have never used one before make sure you read and follow all instructions. They are designed to work in cycles of 60 seconds, so don’t leave you gun in there beyond that time period. The cleaning action is like putting your gun fully immersed into lacquer thinner. Can you imagine the shape of your gun if you leave it in too long or too often?

Condensation will form in your gun if you do not change the solvent on a regular basis. This means acids start to form and this is certainly not good for your gun. If you are cleaning, a gravity gun is sure to plug up the air inlet before putting it into the washer. You don’t want the solvent getting in here. Once done remove the gun and dry immediately with a cloth. If the packing starts to leak, you can change it.

Qns 3: My Spray gun produces a bad pattern:

Most likely, a rebuild kit won’t correct the problem. Balance the air with the material.

Some other things to remember is you have to use more that one gun for refinish materials if you are in a compliant area. Temperature ranges are important for HVLP guns if it’s the larger ones; it’s not for the smaller ones. Lubricate you gun with a 4 oz. Mineral oil.

Remember to match the fluid nozzles with the type of material you using. Using multiple guns means you don’t have to keep changing tips.

Keep your gun in top-notch shape by not dropping it or immersing it in thinned. Avoid harsh chemicals.

You must be in control of your spray gun at all times in the following areas…

a) Judging the correct distance from the gun to the object

b) Proper trigger action

c) Control of the speed at which you are working

d) The angle at which you hold the gun. This requires techniques such as heeling toeing and fanning.

e) Constantly watch what you are doing so you apply evenly. Do a perpendicular pass at a constant even speed. If you go slowly, you will apply more paint whereas if you go fast you will decrease the amount.

f) Make sure you are wetting the surface

g) Each pass must overlap the previous application by about 50%

h) Make sure you don’t double pass the same area

If you observe a problem let the paint flash and fix the problem on the second pass. There will be some flow after application but this will depend on the amount of reducer and hardener you have used. Once the paint catalyzes though whatever is showing is what will remain until you correct it.

Remember to take your time follow all the steps and you will master any weaknesses you have with your spray painting in no time with practice.
